Silvery grebe, Falklands 'White Grebe' is a Falkland resident breeder who favours large freshwater ponds with the dense aquatic plant, milfoil. Length: 28cm (11 inches). Locally common.

Diet is varied, insects, larvae, fish and their eggs, small crustaceans and plant food obtained by diving.

Found only in South America. Breeds from Falklands and Tierra del Fuego to about 25 °S in Chile and Argentina.
